PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing 2-adamantanone containing a little amount of resinous compounds with an increased isolation yield of 2-adamantanone. SOLUTION: 2-Adamantanone is manufactured by oxidizing at least one raw material compound selected from the group consisting of adamantane, 1-adamantanol and 2-adamantanol in the presence of an inorganic salt such as sodium sulfate, potassium sulfate, magnesium sulfate or calcium sulfate in an amount of 0.01-10 times equivalent of the raw material compound in concentrated sulfuric acid or fuming sulfuric acid.
