<p><PICT:1119929/C1/1> In the production of decorative flat glass by rolling, molten glass 1 is rolled by rollers 4, 5 to give a lower sheet 6 of glass of predetermined width and thickness, a decorative material 11 is deposited, as from a vibrating hopper 8, on to the upper surface of sheet 6, a mass of molten glass 13 is applied between rollers 14, 15 at a suitably controlled rate to give a mass 16 on the upper surface of sheet 6 which incorporates the decorative material 11, the whole then being rolled between rollers 14, 18 to form a narrower upper sheet 17. The decorative material is preferably a bubble-forming substance, particularly a particulate anhydrous sodium metasilicate, colorants, metallic flakes or frits and mixtures of these materials. The materials may be flame or plasma sprayed on to the sheet 6.</p> |
