A disposable paper dust bag for a vacuum cleaner has an inlet end closure 14 with an opening, which receives air delivery nozzle 33. defined by an array of inwardly tapering tabs formed by radial cuts (16) (Figs. 1, 2, not shown), which are biassed towards their coplanar position, closing the opening, by elastic means 20. In Fig. 4, elastic band 20 is stapled to each tab 15 (Fig. 5, not shown). End. closure 14 is cardboard or plastics, and when cuts (16) are made the closure may be scored where tabs 15 join the main portion. In use, closure 14 is engaged by seals on either side. In Figs. 6-10 (not shown), the band 20 is replaced by an elastic membrane having a central hole coinciding with the opening. The membrane bears on the tabs 15 and may be adhered to each of them and/or to the rest of the closure. The membrane may be attached to the inner side of the closure or sandwiched between two layers of a composite closure.</p> |
