IO BANDWIDTH CONTROLLABLE MEMORY DEVICE AND THE CONTROL METHOD OF IO BANDWIDTH

A memory device to control an I/O(Input/Output) data width based on a data size required from a system and a method for controlling the width are provided to enhance memory use efficiency, and reduce a pin number of the memory device by controlling an I/O data number without a DQM(Data input/output Mask) pin of the existing memory device. A decoder(410) receives/decodes addresses by responding to a read command. A data output buffer controller(420) generates output control signals by responding to the read command and output of the decoder. Data output buffers(480) selectively output data provided from a core block of the memory device to data output pads by responding to the output control signal. The addresses are not used for a column address but used for a row address of the memory device.
