<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of compensating the deterioration of luminance even when the degree of deterioration of a light emitting device of a pixel due to the deterioration in characteristics with lapse of time proceeds, and to provide a method for the same. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus has: an image information extraction section 32 which forms the image inputted with a threshold Vth assigned from a CPU 34 into quarternary values and adds up the images formed into the quarternary values and the images formed into the quarternary values in the previous frame in a bit unit; a memory 33 which saves the image data formed into the quarternary values and added at every frame; the CPU 34 which reads the image data stored in the memory 33, monitors the degree of deterioration by each of the pixels and outputs, when image persistence becomes conspicuous, such γ conversion table information that applies appropriate γ correction by each of the pixels to an image processing section 35; and the image processing section 35 which performs the γ correction for making the deterioration smaller by each of the pixels on the basis of the γ conversion table instructed from the CPU 34 by each of the individual colors. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
