METHOD OF PURIFYING FULLERENE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of purifying fullerene by which a specific fullerene such as fullerene C60 is selectively obtained from a fullerene mixture and purified into a high purity fullerene. SOLUTION: The method of purifying fullerene has a 1st step 13 for bringing a fullerene mixture A containing at least 2 kinds of fullerene into contact with a 1st solvent in which the fullerene mixture and calixarene are soluble and a clathrate compound formed by the inclusion of C60 with calixarene is hardly soluble or insoluble to obtain the clathrate compound of C60 with calixarene, a 2nd step 15 for separating the calixarene from C60 solution by bringing the clathrate compound into contact with a 2nd solvent in which the C60 is soluble and the calixarene is hardly soluble or insoluble and a 3rd step 16 for separating impurities by treating the C60 solution obtained in the 2nd step with a separating agent.
