PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal image recorder capable of reducing an area of a foot print, power consumption, manufacturing cost and a noise of a mechanism for carrying out decurling. SOLUTION: This recorder comprises a thermal head 37 that has a glaze having thermal recording elements arranged in one direction, is adapted to thermally record on a thermal recording material A in contact with the glaze and conveys the thermal recording material A in a direction perpendicular to the array direction of the thermal recording elements, a heating means (a plate heater 81) which is provided at a downstream side of the thermal head 37 in the conveyance direction and reheats the rear face of the thermal recording material A at the opposite side of the recording face, and a reforming/cooling means 78 (a reforming/cooling roller 87) that bends the reheated thermal recording material to allow the rear face to become a recessed state and cools it.
