The piston pump (4) is mounted at the top in a standing supply container (1) and the fluid is removed from the base through a suction pipe (5,6) but by removing or shortening the suction pipe the pump can be used for suspended supply containers which have a pump assembly set underneath the container. The shortened pipe is covered by a cap which forms a channel which connects the opening of the suction pipe to the lowest point of the suspended supply container.
