PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method for an electric power steering device equipped with an enhanced steering feeling and provide such an electric power steering device. SOLUTION: A PWM signal is impressed on a motor 8 with the output shaft fixed in such a way that the duty ratio ranges between 0-100% (or with the duty ratio until the maximum allowable current flows in the motor 8), and the duty vs. motor current characteristic is obtained. Then the axis of ordinates and the axis of abscissa of the duty vs. motor current characteristic are exchanged so that the motor current vs. duty current curve is obtained. According to the invention, the constant of the polynomial function using the target amperage Itrg as parameter is decided so that approximation is made to the motor current vs. duty curve, and the obtained constant is installed in a feedforward duty arithmetic operation part 23a.
