The invention relates to a method for maintaining an aqueous solution of sodium borate in a liquid form at room temperature. According to said method, in order to change the temperature of said solution from an initial temperature to the storage temperature, the solution is subjected to a heat treatment including at least one cooling or heating process at a speed of between 1 and 100 DEG C per minute, until a holding temperature of between - 50 DEG C and + 200 DEG C is reached, said holding temperature then being maintained for between 1 second and 100 hours, followed by another cooling or heating process at a speed of between 1 and 100 DEG C. The invention also relates to the use of said method in a method for supplying hydrogen for a fuel cell.
