PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dual fuel engine capable of preventing troublesomeness of starting operation or failure in starting. SOLUTION: If liquid fuel is selected by a fuel selecting means 1 before the engine starting, a control means 4 activates an electric actuator 5 to bring a choke valve 3 to a totally closed state or a half opened state, and liquid fuel starting can be performed in this state. If gaseous fuel is selected by the fuel selecting means 1 before the engine starting, the control means 4 activates the electric actuator 5 to bring the choke valve 3 to the half opened state, and the gaseous fuel starting can be performed in this state.
