PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass melting furnace capable of effectively heating and melting glass present under a brick fragment stop on the bottom of the furnace. SOLUTION: The glass melting furnace is a glass melting furnace having main electrodes 3 that are disposed on the middle in the vertical direction of the inner wall of the melting furnace body 2 made of refractory brick 2a so as to be opposite to each other, and heats and melts a glass material within the melting furnace body 2 when a current is applied therebetween, a bottom electrode 5 that is disposed around the circumference of the glass takeout port 9 on the bottom 4 of the furnace and heats and melts the glass on the bottom 4 when an electric current is applied between each main electrode 3 and the bottom electrode 5, and a brick fragment stop 13 placed on the bottom electrode 5 on the bottom 4, wherein a high-frequency heating coil 14 is embedded in the refractory brick 2a around the bottom electrode 5.
