<p>The invention relates to a method for producing a metal strip using a twin-roll casting device. This twin-roll casting device is formed by two counter-rotating casting rolls having casting roll axes that are situated parallel to one another and by two side plates that rest against the faces of said casting rolls. The introduced molten metal is conveyed out of the casting gap, which is formed by the casting rolls, in the form of an at least partially solidified metal strip. The aim of the invention is to improve the sealing of the melt pool when beginning casting and during the passage of parasitic solidifications through the casting gap. To this end, the invention provides that the side plates (6, 7) are, within a first time interval (?t1), moved toward the faces (17, 18) of the casting rolls in a first direction of motion parallel to the casting roll axes (4, 5), and that the side plates (6, 7), within a second time interval (?t2), are moved toward a section of the outer surfaces (10, 11) of the casting rolls in a second direction of motion parallel to the casting direction (G) inside the casting gap (19).</p> |
