A wireless communication terminal having a multimedia contents reproduction function by using a bar code recognition and a method thereof are provided to extract link information data by interpreting a read bar code, and to reproduce multimedia contents by using the extracted link information data, thereby reproducing the desired multimedia contents. When an operation/control device receives a bar code recognition request signal(501), the device reads a bar code by operating a camera device(502), and extracts link information data by interpreting the read bar code(503). The device presumes a kind of a reproduction mode from the extracted link information data(504). If the reproduction mode is a storage mode, the device reads multimedia contents corresponding to the link information data to output the read multimedia contents(505). If the reproduction mode is a real-time mode, the device downloads the multimedia contents in real time to output the downloaded contents(506).
