PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an organic compound degradation catalyst particle that is capable of performing the oxidative degradation of an organic compound, particularly an organic compound having carboxylic group at a temperature of 200°C or lower and that is capable of using a precious metal particle in comparison cheaper than platinum, and to provide a method for degrading an organic compound using the same.

SOLUTION: The organic compound degradation catalyst particle is characterized by containing 5 wt.% or more of each of two or more elements selected from the group consisting of gold, silver and palladium in one particle.
