PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power unit which can use a switching element having a high electrical resistance, even if developing bias is of positive polarity. SOLUTION: Only when the absolute value of a voltage value applied to a developing roller 4 becomes larger than the absolute value of a voltage value applied to an output terminal A, is a voltage applied to the gate terminal of an FET-2 as a switching element from a control unit 30C. Then, when the voltage is applied to this gate terminal G, the source and the drain of the FET-2 become continuous in between, to allow a current to flow through the developing roller and the ground.
