PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron tube easy to handle at the time of use and with high safety. SOLUTION: An insulating cylinder 9 is protruded toward inside of an envelope 2 of the electron tube. One end of the insulating cylinder 9 is connected to the envelope 2. The other end of the insulating cylinder 9 is provided with an APD 15. Grounding voltage is impressed on the envelope 2, and positive high voltage on the APD 15. Photoelectrons discharged by light incident on a photoelectric surface 11 are converged by an electric field inside the envelope 2 and emitted to the APD 15, which are amplified and detected. Since the positive high voltage is not exposed to the envelope 2, the tube is easy to handle with high safety. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
