PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a disk storing mechanism for a disk unit, the mechanism in which a play generated by connection of a plurality of gears is absorbed and thereby a disk support mechanism can move a disk vertically to a desired position and enables unloading of the disk. SOLUTION: The disk storing mechanism for the disk unit is provided with a gear 20 coupled with a center gear 12, a gear 21 coupled with the gear 20, a circular part 22 which is provided integrally with the gear 21 and has recessed parts 22a to 22c, and a spring member 23 which has a projection part 23a engaging the recessed parts 22a to 22c of the circular part 22, and is fixed so that the center gear 12 stops at an angle of rotation corresponding to a target engagement part. A ratchet mechanism comprising the circular part 22 and spring member 23 absorbs their play and variance in the play to restrict a stop position so that a projection part of a disk support mechanism 9 is always nearby the center of a horizontal part 11a of a groove part 11, thereby a disk support member 9 is surely moved vertically to make it possible to unload the disk.
