<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic cooker stopping or restraining power supply to a heating coil by detecting abnormal overheat with as little delay as possible, regardless of the shape of a cookware to be heated (a pot with a warped bottom or the like). <P>SOLUTION: The electromagnetic cooker comprises one or a plurality of thermistors 4 detecting temperature at a prescribed position under a plate 3, a preparatory heater 5 preparatorily heating the neighboring area of the thermistors 4, and a control part 2 restraining or stopping the power supply to a heating coil 1 when the temperature detected by the thermistors 4 exceeds the prescribed set temperature. The thermistor 4 has a positive temperature coefficient with a Curie point at the temperature area lower than the set temperature. The preparatory heater 5 preparatorily heats the thermistors 4 to such a temperature that the resistance of the thermistor 4 becomes minimum with the power supply to the heating coil 1 in the state of stopping.
