PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a strengthened member with high strength by effectively utilizing the strength characteristic of steel having a strain aging characteristic after deforming the steel by compression. SOLUTION: The strengthened member 10 is formed from the steel having the strain aging characteristic and has a closed cross section perpendicular to the axis, wherein at least a part of the member surface is provided with a strengthened region P which is formed by applying thereto a strain aging treatment after applying forming work accompanied with the compression strain by acting the compression stress in the plate face over in the thickness direction of the plate from the member surface to the member inner surface.
