PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic control method for TIG arc welding wherein a welding electrode, a molten pool, a bevel wall, and a filler wire, each having different luminance levels, are stably separated and detected from a photographed image, and the TIG arc welding is stably controlled according to an image measured value. SOLUTION: In luminance images in which an area including the welding electrode, the molten pool, the bevel wall, and the filler wire are photographed, the welding electrode, the molten pool, the bevel wall, and the filler wire are photographed with exposure time t1, t2 and t3 so that a luminance difference between the welding electrode and the molten pool, that between the molten pool and the groove wall, and that between the filler wire and the molten pool, are relatively greater, respectively. In the automatic control method for the TIG arc welding, copying control for a center line of the welding electrode, oscillating width control, and filler wire insertion position control are made, based on measured values for the luminance images of the welding electrode, the groove wall, the molten pool, and the filler wire which are photographed as above.
