The frame (1) has one or more hinged frame parts, each with a transverse lower top-hat profile (2), a transverse upper hat profile (3), several vertical bars (4,5) welded to the top-hat profiles at their ends, a back plate (8) welded to the back of the profiles and/or bars and two outer joints (10) with a bearing block (15) for attachment to the vehicle chassis and a joint bolt (12). The vertical bars are welded to the profiles at heir ends without shape-locking. An independent claim is also included for a modular system for constructing an inventive frame.
