DNA-mediated representation of chromosomal bands, useful e.g. for detecting chromosomal anomalies, using set of probes for fluorescent in situ hybridization that are matched for efficiency in a single test

In a method for DNA-mediated representation of chromosomal bands by multicolor banding that uses a set of 24-color FISH (= fluorescent in situ hybridization) probes, the new feature is that the individual probes are matched to each other as regards hybridization efficiency. Method for DNA-mediated representation of chromosomes bands by multicolor banding, particularly for differentiation of chromosome-specific bands and for recognizing chromosomal anomalies, uses DNA probes (I), specific for chromosomal regions, for computer-assisted representation and color evaluation of the bands by pseudo-coloring, with simultaneous use of a 24-color FISH (= fluorescent in situ hybridization) probe set. The new feature is that the individual probes are matched to each other, as regards their hybridization efficiency, in just one test batch, and the probes preferably allow representation of all chromosomes of a species by hybridization, with results evaluated under a microscope.
