Arrangement for testing vestibular function, for examining the inner ear and for thermal triggering of nystagmus using heat radiation. The inventive portable device is contained within a housing and generates radiation with a wavelength between 900 and 1100 nm. The arrangement includes a spacer arrangement (1) for presetting of the geometrical distance between the outer ear passage and an optical window.
