A window assembly comprising a window frame 102 and a window sash 104 constructed to be positioned within the frame 102 and moveable between a closed position and an open-tilted position. The window sash 104 has at least one connection means 500 and the window frame has at least one receptacle 210, 212 which accommodates movement of the window sash 104 between its closed and open positions. The receptacle 210, 212 may be a kidney shaped receptacle or formed as a channel. The connection means 500 may be a pivot pin. There may be two such receptacles 210, 212 and there may be two such connection means 500. There may be a dual function water dam which stops water passing from one side of the window assembly to the other and which also acts as support means for supporting the sash 104 in its open position. An insertion channel 214 may extend from one of the kidney shaped recepta cles 210, 212 to allow the window sash 104 to be inserted into the frame 102.
