LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a method for manufacturing the LCD are provided to minimize the generation of poor driving of the LCD due to dummy metal patterns of a panel defect detection gate pad and a panel defect detection data pad by forming the dummy metal patterns such that they surround only the corner of a transparent electrode. An LCD includes the first substrate, a plurality of IC(Integrated Circuit) pads(355,360), and a liquid crystal layer. A plurality of pixels are formed on the first substrate and a plurality of gate lines and data lines(305c) for driving the pixels are formed in an intersecting manner on the substrate. The plurality of IC pads are formed on the peripheral region of the first substrate and apply a video signal from an external device to the pixels through the gate lines and the data lines. The IC pads have dummy metal patterns(319). The liquid crystal layer is interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate opposite to the first substrate.
