[Also in Division H2] In a magnetoplasma dynamic generator system, the gas circulated through the generator contains solid refractory particles to increase the heat carrying capacity of the gas and which are rendered radioactive during passage through a nuclear reactor. The reactor fuel elements are pervious to volatile fission products, such as caesium, strontium or barium. The fission products contaminate the refractory particles which are then radioactive and which ionize the gas. The generator incorporates a magnetic field perpendicular to the direction of gas flow and operates on the Hall effect. |
