A device for receiving a message of a mobile communication terminal and a method thereof are provided to provide a device selecting menu for outputting message contents to the terminal, and to set a device for outputting a message to a PC or the terminal through the device selecting menu, thereby confirming various messages while operating in the PC. A packet data processing unit(100) enables to use a packet service in a PC connected with a terminal. A message data processing unit(101) outputs a short message transmitted to the terminal to a determined device, or converts a data format according to an outputting device. A PC synchronizing unit(102) synchronizes data outputted from the packet data processing unit(100) or the message data processing unit(101) with the PC, and outputs the synchronized data. A PC interface unit(103) interfaces packet data or message data outputted from the PC synchronizing unit(102) with the PC through a communication device such as a UART or a USB. A terminal interface unit(104) interfaces with the terminal to receive the packet data or the message data. A message decoding unit(105) analyzes and decodes the message data received from the terminal interface unit(104). A message contents outputting unit(106) outputs the decoded message contents as a determined screen format such as a pop-up screen.
