A transfer device is provided to grip and carry heavy and big carriers in a box-type working space by one operator by using a gripping device, a link unit having plural movable shafts, a brake controlling a rotary motion of the movable shafts, and a moving member. A transfer device(100) for gripping and moving a carrier(10) from a first position to a second position is composed of a link unit having a plurality of link frames(112,114,116) connected to a base frame(110) fixed vertically by plural movable shafts(122,124,126) and a gripping device(130) connected to one end of the link unit to hold the part. The gripping device comprises an insertion member(136) fitted into inserting holes formed at a portion of the part to support the carrier against gravity; a moving member(134) supported by the insertion member and moved toward a predetermined portion of the part to pressurize and hold the carrier for the insertion member; and a knob(132) gripped by users' hands to operate the gripping device.
