Method and device for operating a combustion engine

Detected as consumed in total by all actuators (AA) in an internal combustion engine, average electric power (P) is compared with a preset desired power (Psoll) that represents a nominal power from a control device to the AA. Electric power consumed in future by the AA in total is reduced if a comparison shows that the average detected electric power is greater than the preset desired power. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a computer program with program code to trigger an internal combustion engine; (b) and for a data carrier with a computer program; (c) and for a device for operating an internal combustion engine with multiple cylinders each triggered via actuators.
