Use in the treatment of metal substrata and their alloys, of mono- and bifunctional (per)fluoropolyether compounds having the following structures: ÄRf-CFY-L-OÜmP(O)(O<->Z<+>)3-m (O<->Z<+>)2P(O)ÄO-L-YFC-O-Rf-CFY-L-O-P(O)(O<->Z<+>)Üm, -(O-L-YFC-O-Rf-CFY-L-OÜP(O)(O<->Z<+>)2 Rf-CFY-L-W W-L-YFC-O-Rf-CFY-L-W wherein: m' = 0-20; n = 0-8; q = 1-8; L is an organic group selected from -CH2-(OCH2CH2)n-, -CO-NR'-(CH2)q-, with R' = H or C1-C4 alkyl; Z = H, alkaline metal or NR4 group with R = H or C1-C4 alkyl; Y = F, CF3; m = 1, 2, 3, preferably 1, 2; W is a group -Si(R1) alpha (OR2)3- alpha with alpha = 0, 1, 2, R1 and R2 equal to or different from each other are C1-C6 alkyl groups optionally containing one or more ether O, C6-C10 aryl groups, C7-C12 alkyl-aryl or aryl-alkyl groups; Rf is a perfluoropolyether chain comprising the following units: (CFXO), (CF2CF2O), (CF2CF2CF2O), (CF2CF2CF2CF2O), (CR4R5CF2CF2O), (CF(CF3)CF2O), (CF2CF(CF3)O).
