A method and a device for managing a list of services in a contents transmission system are provided to manage the list thereof at a receiver level in the system that includes a number of individual data streams. In case that a new service is sensed on a given stream, it is checked whether the new service is already stored in a service list for another stream or not. A whole search for services transmitted from a contents transmission system is programmed in order to update the service list only when a result of the check is negative. Realization of the whole search is subordinate to authentication of a user.
