<p>A torsion spring assembly for an up and over canopy door includes at least one torsion spring 130, 132 mounted about a spring shaft 118. A carriage 134 is connected to the at least one torsion spring and an axial stop means 148 and a restraint means 152, 154 are also provided. The arrangement is such that upon failure of the at least one torsion spring, the carriage is moved axially with respect to the spring shaft until halted by the axial stop means at which point further rotation of the carriage and the spring shaft is prevented by the restraining means. The arrangement prevents the door from dropping from an open position in the event of a failure of the at least one torsion spring.</p> |
