[Also in Division B6] A rotary tool for cutting and/or marking foldlines comprises a cylindrical metal core 1, a cylindrical layer 2 of hard plastics material formed on the core, at least one transverse metal blade 5 embedded in the layer 2 with its outer edge projecting from the outer surface of layer 2 and its inner edge bearing on the core, a metal sleeve 8, 9 embedded in the plastics layer on each side of the blade, and a locking rod 7 extending longitudinally of the tool and passing through the sleeves and a hole in the blade. The tool may further include at least one longitudinal blade frictionally held in a groove in the layer 2. The tool may be formed by holding the blade(s), rod and sleeves in position between the core 1 and an outer tubular mould and pouring Araldite (Registered Trade Mark) into the space between the core and the mould. After the plastics material has set the outer mould, the rod and the blade(s) are removed, the set plastics layer is milled to a smaller diameter and the blade(s) and rod(s) reinserted, the blades projecting from the plastics layer.</p> |
