DEVICE FOR BRAKING CONTACT ROLL IN STRIP GRINDER

A braking device of a strip grinder is provided to prevent damage or accident by detecting breakage of an abrasive belt accurately and stopping the abrasive belt quickly, and to reduce working hours by grinding a surface of a damaged contact roll evenly with the abrasive belt. A braking device of a strip grinder is composed of a detecting unit installed in front of a fixing frame(107) and contacted to an abrasive belt to detect breakage of the abrasive belt, and a stopping unit installed in a lower part of a moving frame(109) supporting a tension roll(108) and selectively contacted to the tension roll according to signals of the detecting unit to stop the tension roll. The detecting unit comprises a shaft installed longitudinally in front of the fixing frame corresponding to a rear part of the abrasive belt, a turning bar turned and installed to the shaft, an elastic spring installed between a rear part of the turning bar and the front of the fixing frame to elastically push the turning bar, an idle roll installed in an end of the turning bar and contacted to a rear part of the abrasive belt, and a detecting sensor mounted in the fixing frame and placed in an upper part of the turning bar to detect rotation of the turning bar.
