A method and a system for offering an automatic image/character conversion service using a mail server are provided to offer visual splendidness to a mail receiver by sending a mail after converting text characters into image characters, and enable the receiver to escape from simplicity and tediousness for a fixed font by offering diverse expressions through the image characters. A member database(130) stores information of a login user. A matching database(190) matches the character of a message made by the user(100) with stored image values. A mail image database(200) stores the image characters converted in the matching database. A mail database(210) stores the image characters, a user ID, and an email address of the receiver(170). The mail server(160) is connected to the Internet, and transmits the value stored in the mail database to the user and the receiver.
