A device for measuring the pressure of a fluid flowing into or out of the human body through a tubing (20, 22) is disclosed. The device includes an elongate body (10) with a first end (12) and a second end (14), an axial bore (16) having openings at said first and second ends and being defined by an inner wall (16a), and a recess (18) in fluid communication with said axial bore between the two ends thereof. Each end of said body has means (12a, 14a) for connecting same to said tubing (20, 22). The device further includes a pressure sensor (30) partially sealingly mounted in said recess (18). The sensor surface exposed to the fluid pressure is non-flush with the inner wall of said axial bore in the region of said recess.
