A signal processing apparatus is provided to obtain data of a correct reproduced image even though a defect pixel exists in an optical black area or a light reception pixel area. A clamp pulse generation circuit(68) generates a clamp pulse by synchronization with an image signal. A clamp circuit(6) clamps a black reference in response to the clamp pulse. A defect detection circuit(72) detects a defect pixel included in an optical black area from which the black reference is extracted. The clamp pulse generation circuit cancels a rise of the clamp pulse when a position of the defect pixel in the optical black area is overlapped with a position of a rise state of the clamp pulse at the defect detection circuit.
