A forward and backward device of a continuously variable transmission is provided to decrease the weight by simplifying parts more than an existing planetary gear type, to reduce the total length of a layout, and to remove gear noise by eliminating a planetary gear. A forward and backward device of a continuously variable transmission is composed of a stator(210) installed between a pump(200) and a turbine(202) to switch the direction of force acting on a blade according to the speed ratio of the pump and the turbine comprising a torque converter of the transmission; a stator shaft(220) fitted and connected with the stator; a one-way clutch(230) installed at the stator shaft to couple the stator shaft and the stator; and a forward and backward power transmitting unit(240,242,244,246) disposed at the stator shaft to use the stator shaft as an input shaft in moving backward.
