A device and a method for automatically setting a channel of a car audio are provided to receive information on a broadcasting channel receivable by a car while the car is running, and to store the received information, thereby carrying out an automatic channel setting function even in a place having weak receive sensitivity. A DSP outputs an automatic channel setup request signal to a DSRC transceiving device(S301). The transceiving device accesses a roadside device, and requests receivable broadcasting channel frequency data to be transmitted(S302). The roadside device receives frequency data of a broadcasting channel(S303), and transmits the received data to the transceiving device(S304). The DSP processes the data, and sets channel frequencies for each broadcasting station(S305). A broadcasting receive sensitivity confirmer confirms receive sensitivity for the channel frequencies(S306), and decides whether a substantially received frequency exists(S307). If so, the DSP selects the strongest channel, and reproduces a broadcasting program for the channel(S308).
