A plasma display panel and a driving method are provided to perform addressing without using an internal wall voltage. A plasma display panel includes a plurality of first electrodes and second electrodes formed on a first substrate, and a plurality of third electrodes formed on a second substrate. A discharge cell is formed by adjacent first, second and third electrodes. According to the method for driving the plasma display panel, one field is driven by being divided into a plurality of sub fields. Each sub field includes a reset period, an address period and sustain period. During the reset period, a ramp voltage decreasing smoothly from the first voltage to the second voltage is applied to the first electrode. During the address period, a third and fourth voltages are applied to the first electrode and the third electrode of a discharge cell respectively. During the sustain period, a fifth voltage is applied to the first electrode and the second electrode in turn, and a sixth voltage having a smoothly increasing period is applied to the first electrode after the fifth voltage is applied to the first electrode and before the fifth voltage is applied to the second electrode.
