To provide an apparatus and a method for treating sewage, which are able to minimize the amount of using a coagulant and the sludge generation amount, stably and efficiently perform an advanced treatment, and require small site for installation. The apparatus comprises a biological advanced-treatment apparatus having a microorganism reactor (1) including an anaerobic tank and an aerobic tank, a final settling pond (3), an inner returning device (2), a sludge returning device (4), a remnant sludge pump (15), and a sludge concentrator (5), a mixing basin (6) installed at the rear end of the final settling pond, a coagulant injection device (7), a polymer injection device (8), a flocculator (9), a micro-filter (10) for washing air and water, and a sludge transfer pump (14).
