SERVICE METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MULTICAST STREAMING

A service method and a system for multicast streaming are provided to use a multicast function such that plural MRs(Media Renderers) can simultaneously watch the same contents provided from an MS(Media Server), thereby reducing a network load. A CP(Control Point)(110) calls a multicast start action to request an MS(Media Server)(120) to transmit designated contents to a multicast address(S101). The MS(120) sends an RTSP URL response to the CP(110) to receive the contents(S102). The MS(120) transmits the contents by using an RTP(S103). The CP(110) informs plural MRs(131-136) of an RTSP URL message by using a join action(S104). One of the MRs(131-136) which wants to participate in a multicast group accesses an RTSP server to obtain attributes of media data and the multicast address, and receives multicast data by using the obtained information(S105).
