PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a solution of an arbitrary equation including equations of higher degree and transcendental functions, in a range of real numbers and imaginary numbers. SOLUTION: In order to obtain a solutionα=a+ib of an equation (α)=0 using a function F satisfying [F(α)=Σt<SB>m</SB>×f<SB>m</SB>(α)+Σu<SB>n</SB>α<SP>n</SP>+v] wherein f<SB>m</SB>(x) is a transcendental function and t<SB>m</SB>, u<SB>n</SB>, and v are arbitrary numbers expressed byε+iξ(i<SP>2</SP>=-1), the equation is decomposed into a real-number element function R(a,b) and an imaginary-number element function I(a,b), and a and b satisfying R(a,b)=0 and I(a,b)=0 are obtained on the assumption of F(α)=R(a,b)+iI(a,b). The existence of this solution is caused to be visually recognized by a user, and the user can obtain the solution by a dynamic input means using a mouse or the like. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
