PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for downloading electronic documents and its program for reading an unknown document to be accessed by a user for the first time from a cache, and displaying it on a screen even in such circumstances that it is not connected to a network. SOLUTION: Documents in a range designated in a designated period are preliminarily acquired, and stored as cache data according to "synchronization definition information"(figure) to define the range or period of electronic documents to be downloaded. A retrieval result list based on each of a plurality of retrieval words or semantically relevant documents such as respective documents in a list are designated in a batch as the range so that those documents can be browsed anytime(even off-line). In a conventional manner, only when retrieval is executed by the search engine of newspaper articles, and the retrieval result list or the partial articles in the list are browsed, the other articles in the list or the retrieval result list based on the other retrieval words used to be necessary, and the site should have been accessed again.
