PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retainer for a needle bearing and provide such a needle bearing excellent in the durability by enhancing particularly the strength of the root of a retainer column part. SOLUTION: A work for the retainer 12 is punched off to form a pocket so that the outside of the retainer is formed in a shearing surface and the inside is formed in a ruptural surface, and using a plane pushing tool, the joint between a ring-shaped part of the retainer and the column part (in particular, the ruptural surface) is pressed so as to make a so-called plane push processing, so that it is possible to make the ruptural surface flat and smooth and thereby heighten the fatigue rupture strength.
