MOLDING MANUFACTURED BY USING WATER GLASS AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molding manufactured by using water glass, the molding of which the water resistance and strength can be increased without using an auxiliary agent for increasing the water resistance and to provide a method for manufacturing the molding. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the molding comprises a step (drying step) of blowing a warm current of drying air of≤200°C toward a mixture of water glass, sand and a particle sizing medium (an alumina ball) while agitating the mixture to mold the mixture into granulated sand (the objective molding). When the moisture content of the water glass in the granulated sand becomes≤30%, an acid treatment is applied to the granulated sand. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
