PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-based multicolor paint whose stability with time is high, whose film has high weatherability, whose particle has high durability against pressure applied on painting, and whose viscosity is high enough to be used as a paint for roller painting. SOLUTION: The water-based multicolor paint for roller painting contains a dispersant containing water and gel particles. The content ratio of the dispersant and the gel particles is, in terms of volume ratio, 0.8 or more of the gel particles to 1 of the dispersant. The above gel particles contain a resin emulsion and a water-soluble gellant. The content ratio of the resin emulsion in the gel particles is≥10 mass% as resin solids in the total amount of the gel particles, and the content ratio of the water-soluble gellant in the gel particles is 2-6 mass pts. based on 100 mass pts. of the resin solids of the resin emulsion.
