PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain desired raw concentration without losing the reproducibility of a highlight part and the reproducibility of a line image in the case the structure of a photoreceptor, the rotating speed of the photoreceptor or an image screen differs, and further to secure a wide light quantity varying range which is usable in an exposure device. SOLUTION: In image forming units 1Y, 1M and 1C, charging potential setting for obtaining a charging potential 600(V) and exposure potential setting for obtaining an exposure potential 200(V) at the charging potential 600(V) are performed. On the other hand, in an image forming unit 1K, charging potential setting for obtaining an electrification potential 700(V) and exposure potential setting for obtaining an exposure potential 300(V) at the charging potential 700 (V) are performed.
