IC CARD, AUTHENTICATION SERVER, AND PASSWORD ALTERATION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the risk that a password of an IC card is stolen.

SOLUTION: An original password and an alteration rule for the password are stored in the IC card 100. The alteration rule is written to the IC card 100 from an IC card terminal such as a cellular phone 102 or the like. The IC card 100 receives data on dates and information on the accumulated number of times of the utilization, and alters the original password based on the alteration rule to generate a new password. When receiving an authentication password from an IC card terminal such as an IC card reader/writer 110, the IC card 100 checks the authentication password with the password thus generated to execute authentication processing.
